"Write Your Own Story" course will help you reach your goal
Write Your Own Story (WYOS) will give you a foundation on which to build the story you’ve been wanting to tell—but weren’t sure you could. When you finish this course, you will understand:
- Your ideal readers (because who you write for shapes your writing)
- Ways to organize the scenes of your story
- When you’re truly ready to tell it
- What readers need to know most—and what they don’t
- Who is the hero of your story
- Why telling your story can make a positive impact on the hearts and minds of your readers
But it takes more than understanding concepts to tell your story.
That’s why during this course you will actually start writing your own story—with support from your cohort cheering you on!
Here's what you will receive as a student in Write Your Own Story:
Lifetime Access to Course Content
Six content-rich modules provide both video trainings as well as printable worksheets to help you process and use what you're learning right away.
Modules cover these topics:
- Welcome to your Writing Adventure - getting started
- The Cosmic Story Structure and You - a universal framework as unique as you are.
- Writing about Trauma - self-care, choosing scenes, reader care
- Writing and Re-writing - tips for getting the work done
- Beyond Writing - editing and publishing pathways
- Conclusion and Celebration
As an added support for writers, the course includes a community forum where you can connect with your teacher and fellow cohort members, ask more questions, and receive additional information (including links to meetings and extra resources).
Encouragement, suggestions, and support are all here in the WYOS Community. And once you join, you will always have access to lessons, handouts, and the forum.
Weekly Live Session on Zoom
Each week you will have the chance to interact with your teacher and fellow writers as you meet over Zoom.
During this meeting, you can ask questions that arise during your writing... Get bonus input from your teacher... “Test drive” pieces of your story with willing listeners, as the group nurtures trust and learns to provide constructive feedback. Also, this is a time to celebrate your cohort's successes.
Each meeting will be recorded, in case you can't attend live or just want to hear the content again.
A Bonus Benefit for WYOS Participants
Writing your own story is only the beginning. For most storytellers new to writing, some skillful editing and proofreading can help elevate their manuscripts to a reader-pleasing work of story art.
That’s why students who complete WYOS receive a discount offer on Karen Ingle Freelance editorial services. By scheduling a free one-on-one meeting with Karen to discuss their editing needs, they can decide if her services will be a good fit for their project.

Meet Your WYOS Instructor, Karen Ingle
As a freelance writer and editor, ghostwriter, and journalist, Karen Ingle naturally gravitates to people with stories worth telling. She knows the challenges of turning personal experiences into writing that readers find as stirring as the writers do.
Countless people have scooted their chairs closer to Karen, dropped their voices, and asked, “May I tell you my story?” So she knows we want our stories to be heard. But most people don’t know where to begin.
Now, Karen is leveraging her teaching experience (at elementary, secondary, and college levels) to help aspiring writers learn to tell the important stories on their hearts.
